North Augusta cancels tree lighting due to weather
North Augusta officials canceled Monday night’s annual tree lighting at John C. Calhoun Park due to soggy conditions though the event proceeded without carols or a Santanist. Mayor Lark Jones noted no rain that evening but prior sprinkles and forecasted rain. the lights were turned on with reduced ceremony amid past quirks like a missing child in 2004 and sprinklers activating in 2005. The North Augusta Lions Club Christmas parade remains planned for Sunday, with milder forecast highs in the upper 50s to around 70.
