Water tainted by fire runoff in Aiken area
Northside residents rushed to find bottled water as officials warned city water may be tainted by runoff from the Carlisle fire plant in Verenes Industrial Park. Residue from burned tires may have entered Shaw's Creek, nearby main source, prompting testing and isolated supply measures while crews feed water to firefighters and use other wells for residents. Water tests to be posted within 24 hours with possible corrections, water distributed at J.D. Lever Elementary, Lower Savannah Work Release Center, and Crosland Park.
