Scores of students from Aiken Middle and Scho field Middle Schools toured a mobile prison cell replica built by the Mattie C. Stewart Foundation’s Choice Bus. The exhibit paired a video and discussion to stress education’s role in avoiding incarceration, with staff noting high dropout rates among inmates and the link to future opportunities.

Late night fire at AGY in unoccupied office room
Aiken Public Safety responded to a structure fire at the AGY plant late Friday. Fire was isolated to one unoccupied office room and extinguished just after midnight. Fire appeared accidental with no injuries reported as employees gathered outside. AGY is a global glass fiber yarn producer headquartered in Aiken.
