Three Killed In Moped Car Collision Near Talatha Church

Three young Aiken residents died when a moped collided with a car on South Carolina Route 19 near Talatha Church Road around 10 p.m. on Sunday. The rider Nathan Hollinsworth 19 passenger Dale Hightower 20 and car driver Michael E Bush 26 perished per the South Carolina Highway Patrol. No further details were available this morning.

Body found in submerged car in Savannah River

North Augusta man John Ross Belcher, 61, was found in the back seat of a yellow 1976 Chevrolet Nova after the car was seen on the Fifth Street Bridge. Divers searched for Louise Belcher, 52, believed to be with him, but she was not located. An autopsy was planned. questions remained about the incident.

Aiken County School Board May Change Maintenance List

The Aiken County Board of Education will decide at tomorrow night’s 7:30 p.m. Schofield Middle School meeting whether to move up re roofing at Aiken High and replace the Hammond Hill boiler with costs around 50 000 and 20 000 respectively. The agenda also covers insurance, policy revisions, testing results, aid for a terminally ill child, refugee program grant requests, 1982 1983 testing plans, personnel, facility management reports, Sardis School lease, conference table expansion, employee benefits, the October financial report, and budget adjustments as the district expands from seven to nine members in January.
