Large underwriter halts new workers' comp policies in SC
Companion Property and Casualty Insurance Group, a Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina unit, will stop issuing new workers' compensation policies in December. Some policies will not be renewed next year, with coverage remaining only as a last resort if no other insurers will cover the risk. The moratorium aims to restore marketplace profitability amid five years of deteriorating business.
