A survey shows mixed views on funding health reform with 74 percent favor higher income taxes for high earners and 44 percent supporting taxing sugary soft drinks while 49 percent oppose. Public opinion on taxing employer health coverage and other options varies.

North Augusta Public Safety officer Brandon L. Cameron was arrested Wednesday on criminal domestic violence charges after allegedly grabbing his girlfriend from a parked vehicle during an argument and throwing her to the ground. He was jailed at the Aiken County detention center. Cameron had three years of service.
Second Judicial Circuit Solicitor Strom Thurmond Jr. considers using the Aiken County Public Library north building as a site to relocate offices due to space limits at the courthouse. He notes 17,000 square feet unused and 27 staff in 4,700 square feet, with 10 more in other offices. Public library officials caution the space may be needed for future expansion. JPS committee hears the plan as information.
The S C Department of Health and Environmental Control has secured swine flu vaccine and will start injections at Ridge Spring and Monetta schools on Monday, with about half of Aiken County covered through December 16. J D Lever and North Aiken Elementary will receive Tuesday. North Augusta Elementary visits Monday after Thanksgiving. Some schools await January injections.
