Hearing set in 2014 traffic stop lawsuit in Columbia
Four Aiken police officers and Chief Charles Barranco plan to appear for a status conference and motion hearing on December 2 in Columbia. The case, filed by Lakeya Hicks and Elijah Pontoon, alleges an unconstitutional public cavity search during a traffic stop on October 2, 2014. Discovery issues and a request to dismiss claims due to Hicks’s alleged nonparticipation loom over the proceedings.
