South Boundary trees symbolize Aiken tourism and history

Interim city manager Roger LeDuc touts South Boundary as Aiken’s tourism symbol with live oaks lining the avenue once planted by Henry Dibble, who shaped the carriage ride route and led the Bank of Western Carolina. Dibble fostered the oaks in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and many originals remain amid later plantings while the city preserves the scenic artery. Larry Wood, Aiken native and general assignment reporter, joined the Aiken Standard in September.
