Traffic sensors fix for downtown intersections in Aiken
Coils and overhead cameras guide traffic at circle and square intersections but may not sense vehicles stuck between lights. DOT upgrades installed earlier this year aim to improve flow during off peak hours while peak times see fewer delays. City officials say the project will keep traffic moving safely through downtown.

Plant purchase eyed to expand EMS facility
The contract totals 810000 for the plant and 140000 for a vacant lot behind it. About half of the purchase price 400000 will come from the Capital Projects Sales Tax with the rest from a capital fund. The site covers 2.6 fenced acres with 2850 square feet of finished office space, 4000 square feet of shop area, four loading docks, and an 8000 square foot detached warehouse. Council members note potential for a training room on unfinished second floor. In June seven of nine council members toured the building with officials and listing agents, saying the facility is better than EMS current county basement operation and could provide improved storage and access.
