Former HomeGold CEO indicted on securities fraud charges

Ronald Sheppard 48 faces 10 counts including securities fraud bank fraud forgery and conspiracy in connection with the HomeGold collapse. If convicted on all counts he could get 57 years in prison and over 165000 in fines. Bond hearing set for Nov 22 in Columbia. Former Carolina Investors officials have pleaded guilty and are serving prison terms.

Charleston students charged with threats return to Buist Academy

Three seventh graders charged with threatening a classmate and teacher were allowed to rejoin Buist Academy after the Charleston County School Board dropped expulsion proceedings. A child psychiatrist evaluated the journal and found no threat, while lawyers described the entries as fanciful musings.
