Lynx bring chill to Augusta with inaugural season launch
Augusta Lynx, new to the East Coast Hockey League, debuted in Augusta and Aiken events this week with Toronto native Paul Gamsby, the team’s general manager, noting strong local welcome. Season tickets near 1,800, average home crowd around 6,000, 70 game schedule, home games at Augusta Richmond County Civic Center, prices from 8 to 425 dollars. Gamsby says many players move up to the majors after a 3 to 4 year minor league run. Lynx alumni head to New Jersey Devils or Vancouver Canucks. Radio coverage on Cool FM 95.1, five TV games planned on CBS or Jones Intercable. Club notes student of the month Carrie Hesse and Tommy McCullough. Club meets Mondays at Houndslake Country Club.
