Panels honor lives lost to AIDS on USC Aiken display
Thirty two panels from the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt are on view in the Etherredge Center at the University of South Carolina Aiken this week. The panels, each representing a life lost to AIDS, include famous figures and ordinary individuals alike. Education and awareness are the display’s goals as viewers are reminded death from AIDS can touch anyone. The exhibit runs 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Thursday with related remarks by faculty and student organizers.

County council sets first step for new jail project
The Aiken County Council will appoint a nine member project team to evaluate design and operation needs for a new detention center.
