Aiken County chicken ordinance recommended for approval
The Aiken County Planning Commission voted 4-2 to recommend Council approve a chicken ordinance allowing hens in most zoning districts with conditions. The proposal limits to six hens per premises unless parcel size is considered, requires rear yard coops, 5 foot setbacks, secure construction, no roosters, and inspections on complaint. Public support ran strong though some urged broader or different controls.
