Mercury levels in SRS liquid waste concern officials
Savannah River Site officials and the liquid waste contractor monitor rising organic mercury levels in Tank 50 and related waste streams. SRR says worker protection remains effective, but mercury removal is down to about 60 percent, prolonging processing as investigations seek root causes and mitigation. Day 2 of the CAB meeting will cover updates and votes on liquid waste issues at New Ellenton Community Center.
