New Ellenton Commissioners Vote to Cut Their Pay and Boost Water Rates

The New Ellenton Commission of Public Works outlines plans to repay a $1.436 million USDA Rural Development loan for upgrades to the water system. It votes to cut commissioner salaries from $500 to $300 monthly, and to raise in town water rates by about $1.71 monthly and $1.73 for out of town customers. The panel also seeks grants to fund a well at a new water tank site and considers emergency options if the Dry Branch Road well is unavailable. A public hearing on the rate change will be announced.
