Aiken City Council Maintains 62 Mills Amid Shortfall
The Aiken City Council unanimously kept the 62 mill property tax rate to cover a 142000 shortfall caused by declines in 40 percent of city parcels and 33 percent countywide. Staff will present a spring budget plan to bridge the gap. The council also approved biennial recycling changes cutting fuel use and renamed Public Services to Public Works combining services, engineering, and utilities.
