Doctors urged to be tougher on obesity in patient care
A coalition of medical groups including the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology released guidelines urging physicians to calculate patients BMI at checkups and to develop weight loss plans with counseling referrals. Insurance coverage for obesity treatments is expected to expand next year following Medicare.
