Personal Side To Kid Crime In Aiken County
The Department of Juvenile Justice notes a rise in juvenile crime in Aiken County with 50 cases from July 1991 to June 1992 rising to 107 from July 1992 to June 1993, a 114 percent increase. Juvenile investigator Becky Edmonds cites more violent acts and more incidents at schools, urging stronger laws and reevaluation of handling juvenile crime.

Behind The Shriner Hoopla Aiken Parade Honors Children
Kassie Keogh leads the Jamil Temple Fall Ceremonial parade downtown Aiken atop an antique firetruck. Shrine clubs from across the region march with go-karts clowns and a color guard while supporters say they do it for the children. About 120 Shrine members joined the event which began at Park Avenue and Union Street.
