Electrical Short Blamed for Aiken Office Fire
A Sunday morning blaze heavily damaged the Mid-South Mortgage Company Office on Laurens Street, with authorities citing an electrical short. Two Aiken officers were hospitalized with injuries from a back draft explosion as 100 firefighters from multiple departments fought the two hour fire, later extinguished after 11 hours on scene. The second floor was totally destroyed and the first floor sustained extensive damage. no official damage estimate yet.
