Anderson County coroner says 27 year old Philip Lewis Richey overdosed on meth in his solitary cell at 12 05 a m Thursday. Investigators seek how the drug entered the jail as other inmates reported he hallucinated and pounded on doors. Richey and his father were jailed on murder charges in last year’s deaths of Shandon Putnam and Carroll Martin, with drugs cited as a possible motive.
The Air Force will stop tracking supplies from Northeastern manufacturers to Charleston Air Force Base for flights to U S forces in the Middle East. Dover Delaware and McGuire New Jersey bases will handle the routing, saving about 40 million dollars annually. Charleston AFB will still fly armored vehicles to troops and move military supplies to South America and Western Africa.
