North Augusta approved second reading of a 17.4 million dollar proposed budget for 2001 after debate over a 30 thousand dollar surplus. Mayor Lark Jones said the Capital Projects Fund will cover city improvements and employee health insurance. The panel kept millage at 72.72 General Fund and 9.02 Capital Projects Fund for a total of 81.74 mills.
