AIDS resistant prostitutes offer hope for vaccine
Majengo Kenya reports two cousins Hawa Chelangat and Hadija Chemutai aged 34 and 31 who have worked as prostitutes for over a decade and remain HIV negative for three plus years. Researchers led by Dr Frank Plummer study HIV resistance suggesting genetic factors such as distinct HLA proteins may influence immune response and vaccine development.
