Scholars shine at tournament in Aiken academic challenge
About 270 students from 54 teams competed in the 1997 Aiken Triple Crown Academic Challenge. Volunteers led by USC Aiken professor Dr. Davis Folsom ran six rounds in the morning and playoff rounds in the afternoon across 27 rooms. Teams came from as far as Charlotte and Washington NC. Dorothy Meeks of James Island High led the top team, which has recent national success. Community support underpins participation and book sales, with contact numbers for booster info. The trivia answers include 144 times the square foot of three square meters, Euripides, and Valentina Tereshkova.
