The eight state region reported 577 700 textile workers in September up 900 from August but 4 2000 below September 1980. South Carolina added 1 700 jobs, Tennessee rose slightly, while Alabama Georgia Mississippi and North Carolina lost jobs. Florida and Kentucky held steady.
