Fatal Accident Claims Evelina Hicks on York Street
Evelina Hicks aged 75 died after being struck by a vehicle on York Street in front of her home. She was transported to Aiken Community Hospital with multiple injuries and died at about 1 p.m. yesterday. The crash remains under investigation by the Aiken County Coroner's Office.

Deputy Saves Traveler Amid Fog Crash on I-20
John Nolin of Moncks Corner ran out of gas on Interstate 20 near Highway 19 and slept in his car. A deputy sheriff woke him and offered a ride to a gas station. Moments later a tanker truck crashed into the parked car and toppled, blocking both lanes. Sgt Bill Weatherington of the Aiken County Sheriff's Department is credited with saving Nolin's life.

Area I Advisory Council recommends zoning changes to allow both Aiken High and the new Schofield Campus to offer immediate academic programs as the district plans a possible mid year move.
