The Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce will host an oyster roast, low country boil, and barbecue on Saturday November 9 at 5 p.m. in the Johnston Municipal Parking Lot. Aiken DPS reports a 47 year old Augusta woman detained for shoplifting on Whiskey Road. Two 16 year old Aiken boys and two more men were detained for shoplifting. one charged with trespassing and another with suspended license. A DUI arrest on Silver Bluff Road followed speeding. A Jackson woman reported vehicle damage at North Aiken Elementary. An unknown man stole two beers on Whiskey Road. Secret Santa program returns to aid Aiken County children
South Aiken Presbyterian Church hosts the 27th Annual Secret Santa of Aiken County with in person applications on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at 1711 Whiskey Road across from H Odell Weeks Activities Center. Eligible children up to age 12 may receive up to three toys totaling $35 with income proof and required documents. Sponsors may call 803 648 1214 to participate, and last year aided about 450 children.

Augusta man pleads guilty to burglary and grand larceny
Brian Scott Lowry 42 of Augusta pleaded guilty to first and second degree burglary grand larceny over 10 000 and between 2 000 and 10 000. Circuit Court Judge Doyet Early sentenced him to 22 years in prison for two North Augusta burglaries. He admitted to breaking into a home on July 28 and later car thefts in River Golf Club area. He was later captured in Clearwater after a resident reported attempts to break into cars. He could have faced life in prison.
