Aiken DPS Responds to Shoplifting and Burglary Incidents
The Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to shoplifting at Walmart on Whiskey Road and the Shoe Department on Whiskey Road and another Walmart on Richland Avenue. A vehicle break in on York Street involved a broken window and missing audio gear. An Aurora Place entry reported a pried door and missing purse. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office handled a burglary on West Martintown Road with no losses. A North Augusta vehicle theft and a 16 foot white trailer theft from Misty Oak Lane in Aiken were also reported.

Aiken Public Safety responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart on Richland Avenue. A man took a box of boots from the shoe area then swapped in his own shoes, selected another pair, and exited through the garden center without paying, fleeing in a vehicle.

Tuesday night results show Don Wells ahead of Jane Vaughters for the S C House District 81 seat covering Aiken County. Wells had 7 241 votes (66 percent) to Vaughters 3 678 with only a few precincts remaining. Wells is a longtime Aiken official and Vaughters a former council member and petition candidate.

Probate Judge Sue Roe won reelection over Jane Page Thompson amid broad support in Aiken County.
