Library hosts varied events and fund sale in November
Aiken County Public Library schedules events this month including a used book sale that raised 1078.25 for the Friends group, a Masters of the Mother Tongue discussion on The Woman Who Walked Into Doors led by Matthew Miller, a free Wills Estate and Probate clinic by the South Carolina Bar Association, free movie screenings of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Pants 2, and weekly story times for toddlers and preschoolers.

Toast of the Town fundraiser by Aiken Red Cross at Washington Center
The Aiken County chapter of the American Red Cross hosts Toast of the Town a TV show style fundraiser at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. Twenty local acts perform with Sherry Wine jazz ensemble as house band and Tony Baughman hosting. Proceeds support disaster relief including hurricanes floods earthquakes and fires. Tickets are $25 for the show at 8 p.m or $35 with a wine and cheese social at 7 p.m. Call 641-4152 ext 223 or 641-9041 for tickets.

Ronald W. Huff of Aiken rises to brigadier general while serving as full-time chief of staff of the South Carolina National Guard. With 37 years in service, he commands the 59th Troop Command and oversees all major subordinate commands. He holds degrees from Midlands Technical College Liberty University and the Army War College. He is married to Carolyn with two sons and two grandsons.
