Savannah River Site names 2012 Boss of the Year

Sharon Lamar, a 31 year SR S employee, selected as Savannah River Remediation 2012 Boss of the Year. Other SRR nominees included Tom Crouse Stephanie Franklin Mark Schmitz Jason Vitali and Jim Wilson for leadership ethics and employee relations. Also Ken Tucker named Class A Upper State football coach of the year. Sarah McNamee to perform in The Laramie Project at Coker College November 14 15 16 and 17.

City to discuss landscaping plan for County Complex

Aiken City Council hosts an information session today at 5 p.m. in the Engineering and Utilities Building 245 Dupont Drive reviewing amendments to the landscaping plan for the County Complex at 1930 University Parkway. The session follows prior discussion over waivers and annexation related to City utilities and buffers along Lincoln Avenue.

Floyd & Green celebrates 20th anniversary with charity Week of Giving Back

Floyd & Green Jewelers marks 20th anniversary by allocating 10 percent of every $100 spent to a local charity chosen by customers during a Week of Giving Back through Saturday. The event featured a closed kickoff party for close supporters and honors longtime patrons like Froggie and Ron Rappoport of Hilton Head, who helped inspire a gold-capped necklace purchase. The store also announced a USC Aiken four year scholarship and presented the first grant at the event, with Davor's Cafe providing catering. Last year the jeweler donated over $16,000 to more than 90 charities.

Floyd & Green Jewelers Celebrate 20 Years

Floyd and Green Jewelers marks its 20th anniversary with a Week of Giving Back from now through Saturday at 515 Silver Bluff Road. Scammers Target Elderly In Kingston Jamaica Plot

Aiken Department of Public Safety warns residents after two incidents involving Kingston Jamaica scammers targeting seniors for cash transfers promising large returns. A 78 year old man was tricked into sharing bank details as agents from the FBI, with four suspicious calls observed. Unauthorized withdrawals occurred and the case remains limited by international jurisdiction. Call 642-7620 with questions.
