St Marys seeks removal from Aiken Historic Register
St Marys Help of Christians seeks to have its downtown church removed from the Aiken Historic Register to enable expansion for a growing congregation. The Design Review Board will consider the request tonight, with discussions on amending the manual to revise demolition language. Representatives note the move aims to facilitate future growth, while past petitioners reflect on the 1993 designation.

Valley Empty Stocking Fund opens applications next Wednesday
The Valley Empty Stocking Fund will take applications from local families on two forthcoming Wednesdays at the Langley Community Center off Highway 421. Bring social security cards, child birth or Medicaid cards, proof of income, rent or mortgage details, and utility bills to show need. The program, started over 20 years ago by the Midland Valley Lions Club and the American Legion, distributed about 30 000 dollars to 180 families last year. Volunteers and donations are welcome, with a Christmas focus on food and toys vouchers rather than cash.
