Father Charged With Neglect After Children Left Home During Fire
The Aiken public safety department charged Lewis Gaines, 25, with child neglect after his two young children, a 3 year old and a 2 year old, were found asleep at home in Pace's Run Apartment during a blaze ignited by a pot left on the stove. Neighbors rescued the children before fire units arrived. DSS and the children's grandmother took custody as Gaines faces arrest.
