Garvey Rejects NFL Strike Carrot Offer in 1983
On the 45th NFL strike day, owners offered a $60 million payoff to entice players to approve a CBA. Ed Garvey rejected the plan, calling it inadequate, while Jets president Jim Kensil urged cautious acceptance. The proposal differs little from the Sept. 8 offer, with a $60,000 max payout for vested players and smaller sums for others.
