Will or trust decisions in estate planning discussed
Knapp and Tucker advise that wills are cheaper and not public records but must meet state requirements. They highlight when a living trust is preferable, such as out of state assets, and explain how assets with designated beneficiaries bypass the will. They stress selecting a personal representative, detailing assets for clarity, and updating wills after life events to avoid intestacy rules and costly probate.
