In Long Island City a 38,164 square foot rooftop hosts New York City’s largest rooftop commercial farm. Ben Flanner and partners raised 200000 from investors to grow 140 rows of leafy greens tomatoes and turnips with five hens and 8 million potential diners nearby. The venture aims to supply local restaurants farmers markets and sunset dinners while navigating wind interns pigeons and shallow soil challenges atop the 1919 building.
