The Aiken County Council will hold a 7 p.m. public hearing at 736 Richland Ave on abolishing the Tax Control Board created Oct. 7, 1980. The eight members’ terms have ended and the board has lacked a quorum. The council plans reassessment notices and 5,000 to 7,000 appeals. Also on the agenda is deleting a vacant tax assessor budget position and issuing 1.5 million in industrial revenue bonds for Lozier Storage Systems Inc. Plans place Lozier in the Aiken-Verenes Industrial on U.S. 1 with about 35 to 50 employees. Additional items include EMS substation funding, budget transfers, EMS equipment, a Public Service Authority appointment, and bids for an agricultural agencies building.
