Attorney frames Hunley FOIA case as principle over specifics
Columbia attorney Jim Carpenter argues the Hunley FOIA case tests whether Friends of the Hunley is subject to the Freedom of Information Act. Edward Sloan, Greenville businessman, seeks documents about $5 million in state and federal funds to the foundation. Carpenter says the public issue warrants a ruling on merits, not individual gain, and notes FOI may cover prevailing party fees.
