Rainy weather postponed the Aiken Civic Ballet show at Hopeland Gardens. the concert was delayed again due to scheduling conflicts. The next event features the Master City Cloggers performing Monday at 7 p.m. in Hopeland Gardens. contact Lisa J. Hall at 642-7648 for details.
Adrienne Brown, wife of James Brown, was discharged from Aiken Regional Medical Centers after nearly two weeks. She was admitted May 15 amid reports of a drug overdose, and hospital officials would not release details during her stay. Sandy Hobbs confirmed her release. The report also notes GDP growth of 2.7 percent in Q1, revised from 2.8 percent.

South Carolina lawmakers say the DOE is pulling major tritium work from an Ohio site and moving it to New Mexico while delaying remaining missions from Mound Ohio. A DOE official hints at a linear accelerator for future tritium production, with final decisions by the Secretary of Energy. Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness calls the plan troubling.
More than 100 children joined senior volunteers for Storytime in the Gardens with over 55 youngsters each week March through May. InterMedia plans a $6.5 million upgrade in Aiken County adding 13 channels starting July 1. ESPN2 Court TV C Span2 The Learning Channel will join the basic lineup, and Choice TV expands with The History Channel Cartoon Network Sci Fi Channel XM Fox Movies and Turner Classic Movies. Premium channels HBO2 Showtime 2 and two new Pay Per View channels are included. Woodside Plantation customers face rate increases and channel removals with WGN and Nostalgia eliminated.
