Oceans Could Satisfy Global Mineral Demand For a Century
A U.N. advisory committee report from New York cites experts from 18 countries claiming oceans hold enough minerals to meet world needs for at least 100 years. It notes vast dissolved solids in seawater, $7 billion in sea minerals produced in 1969, and undersea oil and gas potential exceeding land supplies. The report also highlights a U.S. project showing a three mile deep ocean hole can be reused.
