Bomb threat delays Byrd Elementary classes. two juveniles held

A bomb graffiti phrase halted Byrd Elementary on Ascauga Lake Road Friday morning. Deputies evacuated students to Calvary Baptist Church while a bomb sweep, aided by a Savannah River Site dog, cleared the building. Two 13 year olds were arrested and will appear in juvenile court after being held for a week.

Downs admits killing two children in North Augusta case

From North Augusta Department of Public Safety records Downs, held on criminal sexual conduct kidnapping and murder charges, has admitted to killing two children. The solicitor filed a death penalty notice and the judge noted pre trial motions and jurisdiction by the chief justice. The social workers were shot at a Department of Social Services office on September 16 1996.
