A 119 year old Johnston man named Ricky Marquez Hammonds died at the scene from severe head trauma after the vehicle left the roadway and struck trees in Aiken County. Coroner Tim Carlton confirmed the death occurred around 2 am and stated Hammonds was the rear seat passenger.
Aiken County offices and schools open as classes resume after a loss. City and county offices, schools, and drop-off points operate on a regular schedule Monday.

The 17th annual Aiken Memorial Day Parade drew nearly 100 entries along Park Avenue and Laurens Street on Saturday. Veterans and active service members saluted as crowds gathered, with bands playing The Stars and Stripes Forever and cars and military units marching past Edgefield Avenue.
