The Aiken Standard business offices will be closed Monday May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. The customer service office will reopen May 29 at 9:30 a.m. Tara Moody an AEC member owner attended the co op annual meeting where many turned up and won.
Myrtle Johnson of Graniteville, Lois Grubbs of Gloverville, Bobbie J. Rogers of Warrenville, Shirley D. Sexton of Aiken, Beatrice D. McGhee Williams of Atlanta, Ga are named in a 6A death notices column listing their obituaries and funeral details.

Opal Wright of Aiken receives a framed set of Army dog tags that belonged to her brother, Sgt. Oscar Mayo Mullins, who died in the Battle of the Ardennes during World War II. Mullins, 26, reportedly destroyed or disabled nearly a dozen German tanks before his tank exploded. his remains were never recovered.
