Education budget backs tailored after school programs
Dr Eldridge outlines funding for flexible programs in attendance areas, including after school options at Kennedy, to offer a last chance for students to change behavior. Expulsion remains for those who refuse the opportunity, with potential involvement from United Way, the Aiken Center, and the Mental Health Association. The district cites 446 expulsions last year among about 25,000 students as it pursues a zero tolerance stance to restore discipline and learning.
