The Senate approved a 16.4 billion dollar cut to current federal spending despite President Clinton vowing a veto if education and job training funds are not restored. The bill includes over 7 billion for disaster relief and other programs amid bipartisan calls for compromise.

The venture aims to accelerate technology transfer and job creation, with TSRV taking minority ownership and profits shared with the U.S. Treasury.
COLUMBIA The woman accused of drowning her two sons in a Union County lake is sane and competent to stand trial. An evaluation by psychiatrists says she suffers severe low mood. The report, sealed by Circuit Judge William Howard, could influence mitigation in her death penalty case set to begin July 10.
