Administrative form may work for Aiken County
County Administrator W. Scott Barnes told Aiken Rotary Club that the administrator form could succeed in Aiken County if properly implemented. He noted the evolution from supervisory to administrative government typically spans about 15 years, with the county already partly through the transition begun around 1975. He warned that leaders must avoid favoritism and keep daily operations out of politics while keeping citizens well informed. A November referendum will let voters choose the form of government, with Barnes outlining council as policy makers and the administrator handling operations.
