Life expectancy for SC women declines in many counties

Health advocates report 18 of South Carolina's 46 counties saw equal or lower life expectancy for women over 1983 to 1999. Researchers link drops to high blood pressure, smoking related diseases, and obesity. Marlboro County records the lowest female life expectancy at about 74, while Beaufort tops at about 81.5. The national study involved several universities and released recently.
