Georgia Lottery Funds Education Across Public Colleges and More
The Georgia lottery has generated over 2.4 billion in new money for education since 1993. It has funded free tuition at public colleges and universities for 311,000 students and provided 128 million for some private colleges. Vocational schools received 103 million for 140,000 students. The program has boosted SAT scores and GPAs across the system, increased in-state retention, and spurred competition for top institutions like the University of Georgia. It also supports a voluntary pre kindergarten program for four year olds. Governor Zell Miller championed the lottery and its fracking through to fruition.
