Police hunt suspect in stolen vehicle case in Aiken
Police searched for a suspect near downtown Aiken after the South Carolina Highway Patrol found a vehicle reported stolen earlier this week. A large police presence patrolled Camel ia Street to York Street and Beaufort Street to Sumter Street, but the driver fled on foot after a brief chase. Woman faces neglect charges after child tests positive for drugs
Caitlyn Faye Thurmond, 23, of Aiken is charged with unlawful neglect of a child after a 4-year-old tested positive for meth and marijuana. DSS reported neglect April 22 and the child was placed with a relative under safety plan. Thurmond was jailed at the Aiken County detention center after being charged Tuesday.
