Aiken City Cup pits URS against UPS for third year
URS won the third annual Aiken City Cup Corporate Fitness Challenge at H Odell Weeks Activities Center ahead of UPS by 20 points. Participants from City of Aiken, Aiken County, Security Federal Bank and Aiken Medical Centers joined in events from horseshoes to pickleball and tug of war.

Scott completes basic training at Great Lakes Navy boot camp
Navy Seaman Apprentice Dominique Q. Scott, son of Debra A. Carter of Trenton, finished eight weeks of training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes Illinois. He studied naval customs first aid water safety shipboard and aircraft safety and physical fitness. The capstone Battle Stations exercise tested endurance and basic Navy skills. Scott is a 2010 Strom Thurmond High School graduate.

Aiken County Holds Pauper Burial for Unclaimed Deceased
Five men and one woman with no surviving relatives will be laid to rest in a pauper burial at Calvary Cemetery in Aiken on Friday June 3 at 10 a.m. The cremated remains lie in a cemetery corner with others laid to rest over the years. Coroner Tim Carlton notes the annual memorial honors those without family to arrange burial and invites the public to attend the graveside service. donations come through St Mary Help of Christians.
