The Aiken City Council plans first reading of a 1994-95 budget including a $15 annual road fee per car to fund city roads. The plan adds fire fees for residents outside the city and raises other charges as part of a $26.89 million budget with a recycling center proposal and other agenda items.
The proposal would fund depreciation for the system by raising city water and sewer charges. County residents pay $8.20 for the first 20,000 value and 12 cents per extra $1,000. a new plan would set a $10 base plus per‑$1,000 charges. The maximum city water bill would rise from $24 to $36 monthly, while unconnected fire protection would go from $48 to $120 annually, and average water bills would climb from $10.20 to $11.98 per month.
