Aiken High faces Seneca in Greenwood for the AAA baseball championship at Legion Stadium at 7 p.m. The venue is off Highway 25 bypass behind the Greene civic center. Admission is 2 dollars.
Houston AP reports Texas A&M professor William Foster Owen surveyed 18 unmarried students aged 18 to 25. Nine men and nine women participated, and only one of the women was the first to tell her partner I love you.
Charleston AP reports Spoleto Festival U.S.A. begins its second decade featuring a pair of operas and 19th Century marionettes along with B B King jazz. A brass fanfare and speeches mark the opening on City Hall steps and a bust unveiling for founder Gian Carlo Menotti is planned.
Forecast calls for fair skies tonight with a 20 percent chance of evening thunderstorms and a low in the mid 60s. Tomorrow is partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of afternoon storms and a high in the upper 80s. Details on Page 10A.

Area growers report a promising peach outlook with about 75 percent yield in Edgefield County and ridge-area trees near pit hardening. Harvests begin in June for the ridge and a week earlier in the coast, supported by favorable weather and strong regional production.
The Commerce Department reports a 4.4 percent annualized GNP rise January through March, the fastest in three years, driven mainly by a large buildup in business inventories. Inflation ran 4.2 percent, tied to higher energy costs, while durable goods orders edged up 0.1 percent in April amid weak factory demand.
The Labor Department reports consumer prices rose 0.4 percent in April pushing annual inflation to 5.5 percent. Food and energy costs rose 0.3 percent with core goods up 0.5 percent as the weaker dollar lifts import prices and prompts domestic price increases. Economists expect 5 to 6 percent inflation through 1987.
At Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia at least two nurses and a surgical technician quit rather than treat AIDS patients. Jennifer Joye, 29, said she refused to assist in removing a venerial wart from a male AIDS patient and resigned. Hospital policy allows only pregnant workers to refuse AIDS duties, and Joyce’s case comes after reports of infection risk cited in a medical journal.
